There is a clear and imminent need for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from ship operations. The emissions from fossil fuels are damaging both human and health and the environment.
Maritime transport accounts for 940 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, equal to roughly 3% of total global emissions.
The maritime industry is at a point in its history where it has to pick the right path to meet its decarbonization targets. Specifically, the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) climate strategy has set out to reduce the total greenhouse gas emissions by at least 40% by 2030 and 70% by 2050.
IHB ShipDesign believes that in order to take this giant step towards a more environmentally friendly direction we have to think outside the box. Hydrogen is the ideal zero-emission fuel of the future and the key to sustainable shipping.
This is our first innovative design for a Hydrogen Power Driven Passenger Ferry with a capacity of 120 passengers. This remarkable project that we have developed introduces Hydrogen as a powerful energy carrier with proven potential for reducing carbon emissions.
